Just like the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the Wii is set up to provide video games which can be purchased online through the Wii Shop Channel. All of the content in the Wii Shop Channel can be purchased using Wii Points, which are the currency for the store. Wii Points can be purchased by entering the credit card information into the “Buy Wii Points” portion of the Wii Shop Channel, or they can be purchased at any retail store which sells Wii consoles, accessories and games.

The Wii has what is known as the “Virtual Console” built into it. This is a piece of software which allows the Wii to play video games originally produced for earlier consoles. Currently, the Wii can play games for the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the Nintendo 64, the Sega Master System and Sega Genesis, and the Neo Geo. It can’t play these games using the original cartridges obviously, but the data from those cartridges has been put on the Wii Shop Channel and can be downloaded to the Wii’s system memory. It is necessary to purchase the Wii Classic Controller to play these games, as they are presented in their original format and are not compatible with the Wii’s control scheme, but they are presented just as they were when they were first released. Is Copying Wii Games Legal?

You hear about your friends who make their own copies of video game discs for their Wii, Playstation, or Xbox. Some make the copies the versions they actually play so as not to ruin the original. Others sell these copies at school for a profit. Both of these uses are illegal.

A lot of people believe that it’s legal to copy games as long as you’re using them for private use as backups for the original purchased copy. It’s not. Read the FBI warnings in the back of the game’s book. You might not get caught or even in trouble, but that doesn’t make it legal to do.

There are cases of people getting sued for copying games. One woman paid five british pounds for a game on Amazon.com and then distributed it in limewire and kazaa and was charged with a fine of 7000 british pounds! But yet, she did nothing to make a profit from the game. She wasn’t selling it. She essentially was loaning it out.

However, legal or not, you’re probably going to do it anyway, so you should know of at least some legal software you can get that will allow you to succeed in copying your game discs. Just remember that even though the software is legal copying a video game is not legal.

If you search the internet, you can download some freeware to enable you to make copies of your games. But the freeware is in all cases I knwow of absolutely worthless. Keep in mind that your system will run checks on the game and if components are missing it may not play your copy. Two great games to use your Wii Balance Board with!

The Wii Fit is super new, and so obviously, there are not a ton of games that you can use the Wii Fit Balance Board with yet. However, there are a couple of really great ones that you may not know about! Here are two that I found that I really like!
First off is “Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party.” This is the third game in the Raving Rabbids series. I remember when the first game came out, everyone thought, “this game is so bizarre!” But getting back at those crazy bunnies quickly became really addictive! Well, the insanity continues in this game, and this time you get to use the Wii Fit balance board to battle the bunnies. This time they have invaded your television and are on every single channel! (Yikes, can you imagine if that really happened?) There is also a really fun party mode where you can play with up to eight people! There is one game where you are supposed to follow the dance moves that is great when you have a bigger crowd.
The second game I really like is “Shaun White Snowboarding Road Trip.” The amazing part of this game is that the controls are so sensitive. You can set the game to have low, medium, or high sensitivity, and the balance board will react to your movements accordingly. Since the board can pick up your movements so well, it makes the game very realistic so that you feel like you really are snowboarding. You can ride in Europe, Park City, Alaska, or Japan, and you also have the option of riding off the slopes through the surrounding woods. They’re both great games!
